It is a simple Mac OS X utility program that can do quite a lot. It runs silently in the background and is very easy to use. You can even run it as a command-line tool. To do so, add the -q parameter when you start the program and switch to the terminal to access the program via the Terminal.app.
KEYMACRO Settings:
You can set up up to five different macros, along with their respective keys. The user interface displays current keystrokes and their repeats.
Keystrokes can be saved and loaded via the file menu. You can also select a particular group to assign keystrokes to and define actions to be performed on the keystrokes that belong to that group. For example, if you set the Shell item to run an external command in the Sublime Text editor, KeyMacro will automatically close the editor after a keystroke is typed.
One-click activation
Each of the macros you set up can be activated from the keyboard. Simply double-click a macro to assign a shortcut to it, and add a single-click to actually run the assigned command.
Rerun assigned macros when the program is closed
There is a great setting called “Perform macro upon program exit” that will trigger an assigned macro to be performed when the program is closed. For instance, you might want to type a few lines of text to a file, change some text, or simply reboot the computer when this option is enabled. You can also configure custom actions to be performed when exiting the program or opening it again.
KeyMacro can be integrated into your applications
Like its name suggests, KeyMacro is a Mac OS X utility program that can work with any application via AppleScript. You can add the KeyMacro item to the top menu bar or create your own keyboard shortcuts that can activate a specific action from an app.
KeyMacro Review:
The program is incredibly easy to use and allows you to monitor all of your active keystrokes in a single place. It supports up to five different macros that can be assigned to various commands and actions, and you can even customize Mac OS X actions on keystrokes.
Users who are looking for an easy-to-use app that can automate some of their tasks should give KeyMacro a try.
